Terms and Conditions

The WeRise (Weather-Rice-Nutrient Integrated Decision Support System) provides quick advice to farmers, researchers, and extension workers on optimum planting time, variety to use, and amount and timing of fertilizer application in rainfed rice areas under current and future climate conditions. The use of this software is subject to the following terms and conditions:

The user expressly acknowledges that WeRise, its algorithms and its output database, are the intellectual property of the International Rice Research Institute (IRRI) and copyrighted under the provisions of the Intellectual Property Code of the Philippines, relevant international copyright and intellectual property treaties and the general and customary principles of international law. The user also expressly acknowledges that the research input database derived from collaborative research is jointly owned by IRRI and its collaborating agencies. The user further expressly acknowledges that IRRI and its collaborating agencies are the exclusive owners of this intellectual property and have reserved and will protect all rights appurtenant thereto. Moreover, the user expressly acknowledges that the research input database supplied and owned by collaborating agencies is used exclusively for WeRise in accordance with the agencies` institutional IP policy.

IRRI is a non-profit autonomous international organization. All users may not sell, distribute or link WeRise for a fee. This covers all manners or modes of commercial exploitation. Use of WeRise is subject to the Intellectual Property Policy of IRRI.

The International Rice Research Institute (IRRI) does not guarantee the reliability of seasonal climate predictions and does not endorse or promote specific fertilizers and rice varieties. In addition to climate and crop, many factors such as water, insects, pathogens, and weeds affect rice yield. IRRI does not guarantee a targeted rice yield of different cultivars and promising lines will be attained with the provided seasonal climate prediction, crop management and fertilizer guidelines. The content of the software is subject to change without notice.

Limitation of liability

Under no circumstances and under no legal theory, whether tort, contract, or otherwise, shall the Board of Directors of the International Rice Research Institute (IRRI) or any of its affiliates, officers, employees, or other representatives be liable to you or any other person for any direct, indirect, special, incidental, or consequential damages of any character including, without limitation, damages for loss of goodwill, work stoppage, computer failure or malfunction, or any and all other commercial damages or losses, specifically including damages to crops and soil resulting from the application of the software, or for any damages or liabilities even if IRRI shall have been informed of the possibility of such damages or liabilities, or for any claim by any other party. This limitation of liability shall apply to liability for death or personal injury except to the extent applicable law prohibits such limitation.

IRRI-Japan Collaborative Research Project

The IRRI-Japan Collaborative Research Projects have been funded by the government of Japan through the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, and Fisheries (MAFF) since 1984. CCADS-RR, which is the latest project, was launched in October 2015 and will end in September 2020.
